Introduction
It
is
the
pleasure
and
honour
of
reading
and
analysing
the
Paul
Mauser
private
archive
because
of
the
great
work
done
by
Mr.
Walter
Schmid
in
preserving
these
documents.
Mr.
Schmid,
former
director
of
the
Waffen
Museum
in
Oberndorf,
has
been
one
of
the
most
authoritative
Paul
Mauser
experts,
his
biography
is
impressive.
He
spent
a
long
period
of
his
life
researching,
preserving
and
studying
this
archive.
He
was
the
first
researcher
that
seriously
studied
the
archive
providing
the
data
to
numerous
researchers
and
authors.
In
the
book
Mauser
Pistolen
(Weaver,
Speed
and
Schmid)
Walter
Schmid
wrote
about
himself:
My
personal
effort
for
many
decades
has
been
to
recover
these
important
and
irreplaceable
documents,
and
in
this
I
have
been
at
least
partly
successful,
so
that
currently
so
much
archival
material
is
at
my
disposal
that
many
important
questions
ca
be
answered
concerning
the
factory,
the
technology
of
the
period,
and
the
history
of
the
firm.
The
Paul
Mauser
archive
is
today
shared
between
the
Waffen
Museum
and
a
few
collectors,
among
them
the
Mr.
Baudino’s
collection,
from
where
the
presented
documents
are
extracted.
Mr.
Baudino
started
the
digitalization
and
analysis
of
this
big
part
of
the
archive.
This
web
site
is
the
first
evidence
of
this
study.
The
authors
are
convinced
that
the
best
way
to
preserve
this
archive
is
the
digitalization
followed
by
the
publishing
of
the
entire
content.
For
the
Paul
Mauser
archive
a
new
period
is
starting;
the
digitalization
will
provide
both
the
perpetuity
and
the
possibility
to
share
and
publish this irreplaceable material.
Should
you
have
or
find
any
Mauser
document,
please
contact
the
author
for
appraisal
(
mauser.archive@gmail.com
).
